HOW TO: Repurpose Your Talk

How do you repurpose your talk and why would you want to do this?

Repurposing is the act of taking something you’ve created (in this scenario) and using the same content for something else.

For example, I have a talk that I give called, “Get Your Talk Ready to Rock.” I also offer a “Get Your Talk Ready to Rock” 1/1 session for people who want to make sure their talk is catered to their style that they can give with confidence and is monetizable. So, I have taken the same concepts and content and utilized them to educated audiences and my clients in different ways. The overarching concepts are the same, but the way in which the information is delivered varies.

That is an example of repurposing your content.

This is a valuable lesson because I have met COUNTLESS speakers (authors / coaches) who continue to create new content. They will tell me they got asked to speak and now they need to create a new talk. That is a LOT of time spent on content writing (which could be spent on gaining new clients and serving them).

It is easy to get stuck in the content creation trap. Being in the trap feels good because it seems like you’re being productive. But if you stay there too long, your sales dry up and before you know it, you have the best content in the world with no one to hear it.

In other words, remember to utilize the content you have already worked so hard at creating before you jump into a new project. More to come on repurposing later!
